FEE STRUCTURE FOR DOMESTIC ADOPTION (note changes - all changes effective January 1, 2012)

Non-refundable pre-application Fee: $50

To be paid before the commencement of the training program:
Non-refundable training program fee      $750

To be submitted with application packet:
Non-refundable home study fee for first agency adoption   $1,500
Non-refundable home study fee for second agency adoption   $750  
Non-refundable home study update fee     $150

To be submitted at time of placement:
Placement fee         $4,000 - $25,000 : Fee is calculated at 16% of adjusted gross income, within the range shown here

Post-Placement Visit fees: $150 per visit.  First visit is required within 2-3 weeks after the date of placement.  Thereafter, visits are required every 2 months until the time of finalization.  The last visit must occur within 30 days of finalization.

To be submitted after placement, prior to finalization:
Court and attorney fees, approximate      $1,500-$3,000

Other adoption related costs:

Court Appointed Curator fee, if appointed by judge - varies by parish, $525 in East Baton Rouge parish
Psychological evaluation fee, if determined necessary - variable

A home study remains valid for two years from the initial date of approval.  State regulations also require that a home study be updated by the agency one year after initial date of approval.  Without a home study update, a new home study must be performed if placement does not occur within two years of the initial date of approval.
