You will have additional expenses which are paid to various service providers. Examples are:
- Obtaining copies of legal documents
- USCIS fees and fingerprinting
- Medical exams
- Travel expenses
- Attorney fees for finalization or recognition
EXPLANATION OF FEES
Pre-application fee $50
The nonrefundable application fee must accompany your pre-application form. This fee covers the cost of reviewing and facilitating your inquiry into how CCDIOBR should proceed with your adoption process.
Hague Accredited Home Study Fee $2000
A licensed and adoption competent social worker will provide home study services including an assessment of your capacity to parent a child adopted internationally. The social worker serves as your partner in your adoption planning and preparation. One half of the non-refundable home study fee ($1000) is due with the submission of the application packet. The non-refundable remainder fee ($1000) is due at the completion of the home study interviews.
Criminal Background Check Fee $26 per adult living in household
A criminal background check costing $26 per adult will be submitted by the Agency. The fees are due with the submission of the application packet or with a request for home study annual renewal or USCIS update.
Training Fee $750
Prospective adoptive parents will participate in ten hours of training and preparation for adoption planning and placement. The nonrefundable fee is payable at the first group meeting.
Post Placement Services Fee $150 per contact
After a child is placed in your family there will be follow-up contacts and reports required by the country of origin, placing agency, and the State of Louisiana. Through these contacts your social worker offers your family support, education, and resources which are helpful to your adoption journey. The non-refundable fee is payable at the time of the contact.
Out of Diocese Post Placement Services Fee $250 per contact

The non-refundable fee is payable at the time of the contact.
Home Study Annual or USICS I800A Renewal Fee $250
Approved adoptive families may need to update the home study prior to placement of a child as required by Louisiana law or United States Citizenship and Immigration Services, or by the country to which family has applied. The non-refundable fee includes a home visit, other contacts with the social worker, and a written home study update. It is due at the time of the request for update or renewal services.
Home Study Update $1500
If families apply for a second international adoption within three years of their first adoption and the same country the home study fee is reduced by $500. One half of the non-refundable fee ($750) is due with submission of the application packet and the non-refundable remainder fee is due at the completion of the home study interviews.
Mileage Outside of Baton Rouge Diocese .52 per mile
Families who live outside of the Diocese of Baton Rouge which includes 12 civil parishes of Ascension, Assumption, East Baton Rouge, West Baton Rouge, East Feliciana, West Feliciana, Iberville, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Helena, St. James, and Tangipahoa will reimburse the mileage for visits at a rate of .52 per mile. This non-refundable reimbursement is due at the time of the contact.
